GONG XI FA CHAI everyone! :)
Wow, can't believe Chinese New Year is here already! It is finally the auspicious dragon year! May this year bring prosperity to everyone :)
So funny, I read an article the other day that China is expecting a huge boost in their population because everyone will be trying to have a dragon baby. Good luck to them! I already have two very amazing dragons at home ;)

My Chinese New Year started with a mysterious parcel.
I was perplexed, wondering why on earth someone would send me wine since I'm not a keen drinker. But it wasn't heavy and when I shook it, it sounded like papers rustling.
Excited, I bolted up to my room and eagerly tore off the sellotape. To my utter delight, it contained ..
CHINESE NEW YEAR DECORATIONS!!!
:D
Turns out they were from my aunt, who told me a few weeks ago to await for a surprise she prepared. I totally forgot about that till that day.
I immediately felt a little nostalgic. Back home, my family and I would paste these decorations on the walls of our home and hang red tang lungs for good luck. Haha, and we will eagerly wait till 12 am to strike and when it does, we would open the door, yell out GONG XI FA CHAI for good luck. Then, we'll hug each other with glee and take photos to commemorate the start of chinese new year.. Oh, I do miss that moment. :)
I was slightly sad thinking that I would spend the next 4 years here during chinese new year but seeing these decorations on my wall cheers me up tremendously :) Thanks so much ah yi for this and also the angpao, you're simply the best! :D
On Sunday, my friends and I head to one of the best Chinese restaurant, Mayflower for our CNY eve dinner.
YEE SANG!
A simply MUST HAVE during reunion dinners. I never thought I could get to toss it in the UK since it's only found in Malaysia and Singapore. I was kind of surprised that the Chinese from China don't do this during chinese new year dinners! Oh well, I guess that's what makes us special. :)
Thanks to the super duper awesome Sam for bringing this all the way from Malaysia!
Gorgeous ladies! :)
Plus one!
With Krizun the funny man and Diana the lovely. :)
GP eng hean , pretty Eunice and hall mate, weiken!
The self elected representative who was responsible to order the dishes. (although the job was stolen by Diana in the end, thanks to her fluent Cantonese)
With Sam and Diana. :)
Everyone literally went WOWWWW when the sweet sauce was drizzled all over it. omg, it was so so yummy! I actually love those mini crackers the most :3
We were supposed to yell out good wishes during the tossing but then everyone kept saying SHIT SHIT, cause the stuff kept spilling out of the plate. There goes our good wishes. LOL, hope we'll not be having a shitty year ahead. HAHA
So funny, the table next to us, which are Malaysians literally stared at us with their jaws dropped. I think they were wondering how on earth we managed to get hold of them. haha, yey we win! LOL are we even in a competition /kiasu.
NOM NOM NOM.
Stir fried vegetables with oyster sauce.
My ultimate favourite dish! Sweet and sour pork or commonly known gou lou yok!
A must have because prawn in Cantonese is "ha" which sounds like laughter. haha!
These prawns are surprisingly very good. When I bit into one, I can taste the freshness. This is the simplest way to cook them but no doubt the yummiest, especially with the sweet chilli dip.
Roast duck! It's a bit too fatty but oh well, once a while it's alright.
I think this is tofu with fish belly. At first I was like O.o but they tasted pretty nice!
YUMMM, I loveee steam fish!
Happy and full people. :D
Our kind of candid pose. Only few of us did it -.-
Later that night, my flatmates are super nice to countdown to chinese new year! Charlotte pulled out a sparkling wine and we all had an awesome yam seng to usher in the new year. :) (hopefully, you guys can finally pronounce gong xi fa chai and yam seng hahaha)
Thanks so much guys! :D
The celebration goes on!! :D
OMG YUMMY.
We all had hotpot aka steamboat in HK diner. Wow, I never realized how much I missed it till I took the first bite. The awesomest thing to eat during the frigid weather.
The guys seriously sang like a boss! I never knew guys are so into karaoke. hahaha
Two very nice girls I met who wholeheartedly agreed with me that the poster behind them is severely disturbing.
The boss was so nice to us! He came into our room and asked us what else we wanted. He gave us more vegetables, pig's stomach, more pork and wantans for free!
Belting out like a boss!
LOL. no idea what that expression meant. hahahahaha
Or that. LOL.
I think they were singing to Barbie Girls. HAHAHA
God, that stupid poster again! Who on earth would tie a ribbon there?

HAHAHA, I look like a struggling rocker who needs a big break with constipation.
Emily looking drunk! :P
I kiss a girl.. and I like it? hahahaha
Karaoke queens! :D
Phew, such a good fun! Hope to do it again with you guys next year! :D
Till then,
pikee,
