STOP EATING SHARKS

I bet everyone ate shark fins soup before.
I ate them since i was small. And any wedding or chinese new year dinners without shark fin soups seem incomplete and weird for me.
I used to love it. The tasty broth with chunks of shark fins and crab meat always tantalise my tastebuds.
But now, after i've read the cruelty behind this tasty dish, i decided to stop once and for all.
;)

Why do people eat shark fin soups?
Chinese especially, believe that if you eat shark fins, you will be blessed with prosperity and luck. and some people probably feel good that the world most feared fishes are in their soup bowls.

which make me wonder even more, WHY?

First of all, scientists conducted thousands of researches to prove it is false. and it is!
You think if you eat shark fin you will kena loteri meh?
If like that, ToTo and 4D can go bangkrupt loh.

Besides that, shark fins have no nutritional value at all. Nada.
The nutritonal value of the shark fins are destroyed when they were dried and boiled under high pressure. . They even pose health risks like high cholestrol and high blood pressure.

Let's face it; shark fins are tasteless! It's the chicken stock and the seafoods that are giving it the flavours. If like this, we might as well eat the broth without the fins. it wouldn't make any difference.

And do you know how sharks are killed?

First, the fishermen will capture the shark. And then they will cut off its fins when it is still alive. Try to imagine your legs and hands cut off alive.
Since the sharks meats are not consumed and costs little, they were dumped back into the sea to save some spaces in their boat.
Oh great, first they cut their fins alive and then they dump it back into the sea. ALIVE.
The sharks will either suffocate to death or eaten by other fishes.
damn kelian weih.

Count and multiply one million of the number of sharks in the picture and it weren't even close to the actual numbers of sharks killed anually.

Personally, i'm terrified of sharks.
Sharks are so creepy. their big jaws and menancing eyes scare the crap out of me. I even had a slight phobia of swimming at night because the pool water is so murky, it kind of remind me of the shark-suddenly-appear-in-the-murky-water-and-eat-you- scenes i watched in Jaws.

*shudders*

but they're god creations. They've been here over 200 million years. Longer than our monkey ancestors. Don't you think they deserve a chance to live? Why must they die to appease our ruthless and cruel appetite? It's so unfair that they have to die like this.

Around 100 millions of sharks were killed anually just for their fins. And they are facing the dangers of extiction every minute.

do your part! save the sharks!

you can pledge here.

or simplejust stop eating shark fin soup. You might think
" Oh, even if i stop, it wouldn't make any difference"

Yes you can! . One bowl less on the table is one more free shark in the ocean.

When the eating stops, so will the killing. ;)

:D
